Last Friday was the day that Luke and Amelia turned 14 weeks old ... amazing! That was a significant day for me because 14 weeks is the amount of time I spent on bed rest during my pregnancy with them. For whatever reason it was an important milestone for me. Nothing in my life has taught me more about how relative time can feel. My months in bed felt like they would never end but my months so far with the babies have just flown by ... sometimes too quickly. I want to soak up all of their baby days (although I won't complain when we're getting more sleep).
Luke and Amelia are thriving! They are right on track developmentally for their adjusted age, six weeks. They have both started smiling at us which is one of my very favorite things so far. Their smiles just melt my heart! It's fun to see them starting to track us and pay more attention to their environment. I'm excited to see them start to interact more with each other. They both are growing so quickly. They're very big babies which is such a blessing considering where they started out! Luke is now almost 14 pounds and Amelia is almost 12 lbs ... I'm going to have some strong arms very quickly ... no need to lift weights anymore :) It's been so much fun for me to get to be active again. Basically the only time I leave the house (other than for walks around the neighborhood with the babies) is to go to the gym or to go for a jog ... such great therapy! Scott is really great about making sure I get that time for myself. I've never appreciated a healthy body more! We're very glad it's almost summer so that we can get the babies out more and start enjoying the parks around our house. It's going to be a fun summer!

I spend a lot of time with one baby in the sling and the other in my arms! |
