So, I was trying to get a video of Amelia walking today (yes, she took her first steps last week!! She hasn't repeated them because she would much prefer to crawl and get places faster) when this little scene happened. I was laughing so hard, not that it's really all that hilarious or anything but it's just so them. This is exactly why Amelia's hair usually looks a bit disheveled ... I have good intentions of doing her hair but her brother is bound and determined to ruin those plans. I just love how he's holding up the flower as he's walking away like he's thinking, "Ha! I got another!" And Amelia Jane, that girl can fight back when she chooses to (I witnessed her totally take Luke out with the train this afternoon) but usually she's just back to whatever she was doing.
We made it to our weekend off together! Hooray! The more people I talk to the more I realized that there really are benefits and drawbacks to every work/childcare/life situation. I've been working about two shifts a week recently (I often work just one) which is good in many ways but since Scott and I alternate days it means that it's not uncommon for us to go 10 or 11 days without a day off together. Sometimes that's fine but if the kids aren't sleeping well (we've got lots of molars going on around here) or are sick it makes for two very.tired.parents. I enjoy working some and I'm so thankful that nursing is a career that allows for a great deal of flexibility. I'm not sure exactly what the right answer is for us right now in terms of finding a balance between both of our jobs, time together as a family and childcare ... For the moment I'm going to enjoy these three days of togetherness!

Hide-and-seek
Lukey's new favorite game is to climb into anything and everything. Last week I took the babes to a friend's house to play and he thought it was so much fun to climb into her tupperware cupboard and throw every piece out. At least it's not breakable, right? Yesterday I was making their lunch and would stick my head out of the kitchen every minute or two to check on them. I didn't see Luke but since our living room is quite small, I knew he couldn't have gone too far. He had climbed into the toy bins (between the couch and the wall) and was throwing every toy out towards his sister. They were having a ball! Here is the little monkey ... he was quite proud of himself :)

Fun with food!
So my dear college friend, Katie, suggested that we let the kids "finger-paint" with food ... Oh my word, they LOVED it! I missed this because I was at work, but Scott gave them each a bit of chocolate pudding on their trays and let them have at it ...

Amelia feeding Daddy!
Amelia LOVES her Daddy ... When she sees him come home from work it's, "Dadadada!" while she's grinning and laughing. So sweet. Here she is feeding him :)
